Rhododendron: evergreen shrub, up to 1 meters high, branches dense, prostrate or erect. Inflorescences terminal, umbellate, number of flower; flower bud scales shedding; calyx is small, reddish or purple, corolla broadly funnelform, purple rose pink to purple, rarely white. Filaments basally is woolly; capsule oblong ovate, 5-7 months flowering, 9-10 month result.
